Our WordPress and Joomla! customers were affected last night by a crash of the MySQL server at around midnight. The server was not brought back up until 8:12 AM CDT.

Mechanisms that are intended to detect and correct this type of failure did not work. We’ll be investigating to see how and why MySQL failed, and why the monitoring scripts failed to correct it.
