At 16:15 PM CDT on the afternoon of 4 May 2026, Administrator error caused a power interruption to our core servers – upstream router, DNS, mail server, and NFS file server. Service as restored 14:52 PM CDT.

As a result, the main mail server encountered a bug with its DNS resolution, causing much incoming and outgoing email to be delayed.

The mail server was restarted and the bug resolved by 10:46 AM CDT May 5th. The problem on the mail server lasted from about 5 PM on the 4th to 10:46 on the 5th.Most mail servers allow for non-functioning mail servers by re-trying delivery for 24 hours. Though some email may have been lost, this should be the rare case. Most email should be delivered (and sent) now that the email server is back up.
