A problem has been brought to our attention regarding IOS 18.0.1 and Apple’s Mail client.

The IOS 18.0.1 upgrade to the iPhone installs an email client that is not compatible with the mail server at iCompute. It adds folders with illegal names, and the MacOS email client appears to crash when it encounters these folders.

We recommend NOT upgrading to IOS 18 on your iPhone. Presumably Apple will fix the problem soon. The easiest way to prevent the upgrade to 18.x, is to disable automatic IOS upgrades. Do this in Settings->General->Software update.
