At 6 AM CST Dec 5th, our two web servers smile and mercy will be upgraded. Smile will get a PHP upgrade from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7.3. Mercy will get a much more substnatial upgrade of its OS from NetBSD 7.2 to NetBSD 8.2. In addition, mercy will get upgraded packages for its web server software and supporting libraries and tools.

We expect the downtime of these upgrades to be less than 5 minutes for each machine, though active logins will be terminated. Both machines should be in production by 7 AM CST.

We have already sent email to the customers most affected by this work.
