HVNA Meeting Minutes – Draft

Present: Lee, Laurie, Anita, Karen, Wayne
Sheri, Jerry and Cindy
Discussion focused on
preparation for the HVNA Block Party.
The following list note items discussed:
- Membership assistance - Wayne
called HVNA members for help with the block party preparations.
- Band – The band has been hired to
play at the party and fee is $375.
- Food – Kokes (not sure on spelling) provided an ice cream order
list. The group decided to order
300 ice cream bars, which will cost about $100, Kokes will order the ice cream and will handle the sell and
refrigeration. Families will receive poges (from the information booth) to
receive on free ice cream bar.
The
candy has been purchased from Sam’s Club.
Anita
will supply free water and apple cider.
Three
cases of pop will be purchases by HVNA.
- Children Activities – All
children’s activities will be free.
- Flyer – Sheri completed a flyer
(450 to be printed) to be distributed to neighborhood residents by Wayne
and Jean. Lee and Karen will speak
to the residents on 6th Street. Jerry will distribute the flyers downtown and solicit door
prizes.
- Tables – Lorie will ask to borrow
tables from 1st Baptist Church.
- Insurance – Wayne will speak to
Chuck regarding insurance for the event.
- Prize drawings – Names will be
drawn for prizes.
- Signs – Signs will be posted at
tables listing the business and organizations the help support the block
party.
- Nametags – One box of nametags
will be purchased for the party to supplement the supplies already on
hand.
- Poges (not sure of spelling) – Sheri
will request permission from the Historical Society to use the image of
the Octagon House on the poges.
- Kazoo’s – Sheri will order
Kazoo’s.
- Pin Wheels – Anita will order
pinwheels.
- Silent Auction – A chair that the
children will work on at the activity table will be raffled off at a
silent auction.
