Hudson Vintage Neighborhood Alliance
Minutes of the Meeting - February 21, 2000
Meeting convened at 7:10 p.m.
New Business:
Lee Wyland opened the meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to continue
the discussion regarding the feasibility of the Vintage
Neighborhood
Alliance hosting a block party.
The block party will not coincide with Heritage Week in
May. The alliance
is interested in participating in some manner with the
Octagon Historical
Society to celebrate National Heritage Week in May. It was suggested that
next year, during Heritage Week, the alliance recognize
a neighborhood
member with an improvement award.
Cynthia Wells-O'Malley will contact Dorothy at the
Octagon House to discuss
the possibility of the alliance participating or
assisting in the
celebration of Heritage Week.
The block party date is tentatively set for September
16th and a possible
site for the party would be 6th Street. Mary Wasburn will contact the city
zoning office to seek permission to close off a block.
Mary will also
contact the Target Foundation to pursue the possibility
of seeking a grant
to fund part of the neighborhood celebration.
Lee Wyland will ask Mary Claire to speak to local
businesses for possible
funding of the event and to contact the Chamber of Commerce
in Stillwater
to speak to the planners of the LumberJack Days. The alliance member's
thought the tour trolley and the train used at
LumberJack Days might be
suitable for our celebration.
Chuck Kummeth suggested running a banner over the 2nd
Street business
district announcing the block party in the fall.
Karen Neset will host the next planning meeting for the
block party at her
home on March 20th at 7:00 p.m.
