account. Chuck will apply for a

|
Casino Meeting Review – Scot updated membership on the progress of the
casino referendum. Petitions have
been sent to the governor along with the environmental impact study. HVNA Web Page
–In process of development E-mail Address – info@hvna.net History Week
– History Week will be celebrated in May.
Vine Street Floral 25th Anniversary – Vine Street Floral would like to work with the
Alliance to coordinate the floral shops 25th anniversary with the
group’s block party. Historic Preservation Ordinance – The process of writing a historic
preservation ordinance was started but not completed by city planners. Lee
will locate a copy the materials that are prepared and the HVNA will edit and
rewrite ordinance to prepare for submission.
Zoning Issues – Several members expressed
concern regarding homes in the area that have barking dogs or garbage and
kitchen appliances accumulating in the yard. Chuck, Karen and Cindy will
explore if there are zoning laws on the books that could be enforced to
remedy the issues.
Fund Raiser – Several suggestions were made
regarding fund raising events for the HVNA block party:

Estate
Sale – the sale could take place on one block and we all contribute to the
sale. Donated items could be written
off on taxes as a donation. – HVNA would explore the process of providing
that type of receipt.

Brat Stand – Last
year, members would worked the brat stand raised enough money to pay for the
band at the block party. |

Special Presentation |
Victorian Cut Glass – Chuck Kummeth provided the group with a primer on
Victorian Cut Glass. Chuck described
how the glass was made, who the major manufacturers were, how to identify
American period cut glass or pressed glass, what’s valuable and what’s common
and what the price ranges are. |
